A homes power comes not just from what is seen but from what is treasured

Gardening demands a certain attitude. It is necessary to accept the dynamism of vegetation with serenity. Gilles Clemet-Garden Designer

A room should start a conversation before people actually start exchanging words.

Barry Dixon-Interior Designer

Imaginative and intimately creative, James Kwan's interiors fuse design with sensitivity and reflection. His projects have ranged from contemporary residences to eclectic interiors that combine objects and aesthetic influences from all over the world.

Kwan's product designs include custom furniture, lighting and accessories that address the individual client's needs. In addition, his MK Collection, introduced in 1993 with Leo Mondor, comprises drapery hardware made of hand blown glass. In 2006, Kwan and Mondor pursued their creative passion for interiors by expanding into garden design, as exterior spaces have become essential to contemporary daily living. All Kwan's designs are distinguished by a novel approach to color, line, texture and craftsmanship.

Originally trained as an artist (B. A. Fine Art, CSULB), James has extensive hands-on experience in a wide variety of media, including blown glass, ceramics, metal, jewelry, painting and textiles. Drawing inspiration from his travels in Asia, South America, Africa and Europe, Kwan's approach to interior design also displays his ability to assist and awaken the personal vision and voice of his clients.

James Kwan's professionalism is underpinned by his completion of a four-year Design program at UCLA, and recognized by the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) who awarded him professional membership in 1994. Believing that a focus on the life that is well-lived helps to create harmonious and exciting spaces to live in, Kwan works closely with his clients to revitalize, refocus and refresh both interior and exterior environments.
